What it proves
Electricity transition is visible in actual generation.
What it does not prove: This is a nine-month (July–March) window that includes the high-flow monsoon and post-monsoon months, so it flatters hydel relative to a full-year or winter-only figure. A majority share of generation is also not a majority share of cost: thermal capacity remains contracted and paid for as the balancing and winter-peak resource.
Memory hook: 53.1% → most electrons were already non-thermal, over nine monsoon-favoured months
Rebuts the claim: "Pakistan's clean capacity exists only on paper and rarely runs" — hydel, nuclear and renewables supplied the majority of actual generation over Jul–Mar FY2026.
