What it proves
Household time allocation reproduces gender inequality in employment, education and participation.
What it does not prove: The 19.86% is a share of the full 24-hour day (roughly 4.8 hours), not of waking or working hours, and it measures time allocated rather than burden intensity or simultaneous tasks. It is also a correlation with women's low employment, not a demonstration that care work causes it — the age floor of 10+ folds school-age girls into the same average as adult women.
Memory hook: 19.86% vs 1.81% → women carry eleven times men's unpaid care time
Rebuts the claim: "Women's low workforce participation reflects personal choice or cultural preference" — an eleven-to-one care-time gap means most women's hours are committed before any job offer exists.
